University of Arkansas

The University of Arkansas offers DNP degree programs for students who already hold either a bachelor's degree or a master's degree in nursing. The BSN to DNP program can be completed in around four years and has tracks in family nurse practitioner and adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, where the MSN to DNP program can be completed in as little as two years.

University of Central Arkansas

Students who have already earned either a master's degree or a bachelor's degree in nursing can pursue a DNP degree at the University of Central Arkansas. The DNP program has a Family Nurse Practitioner Track, and the classes can be taken either on campus or online.

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences

Students wishing to earn a DNP degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences have three different options. Students can either enroll in a BSN to DNP program that has five specialization options (including adult-gero acute care nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner), a MSN to DNP secondary nurse practitioner program with four specialization options, or an MSN to DNP program focusing on leadership.

Arkansas State University

Admission Requirements

Students will need to have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing practice to enter into a DNP program, although some programs require a master's degree. Students that are applying for admission into any DNP program will need to have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA in their previous coursework, and this will need to be verified by sending official copies of college transcripts to the place of application. They will also need to hold a current registered nurse license in the state, as part of the curriculum will involve working in the field under supervision of a superior. Lastly, students will need to take the GRE exam and have their scores submitted to the schools that they wish to apply to in the future.

A DNP degree will prepare students for careers as advanced practice nurses or nursing leaders, and these programs are available at a few schools in Arkansas.
