Texas A&M University

At Texas A&M Master of Public Health students can choose between six concentration tracks: (1) health policy and management, (2) biostatistics, (3) epidemiology, (4) health promotion and community health science, (5) occupational health and safety, and (6) environmental health. Students interested in health policy or health promotion can choose to pursue a joint international relations and MPA degree from the Department of Government and Public Service.

University of North Texas

Because the Master of Public Health program at the University of North Texas boasts a small cohort size (20-35 students), admitted students receive individual attention from dedicated faculty members. Students complete this program in two-years (full-time) with a concentration in public health leadership, biostatistics, epidemiology, or maternal and child health.

Texas State University

The Master of Science in Public Health Education and Promotion at Texas State prepares graduates to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist exam. This 36 credit-hour program includes courses in the history of public health, applied behavioral statistics, research methods, and public health program planning.

University of Texas at Arlington

University Of Texas at El Paso

UTEP's Master of Public Health degree is designed for professionals who already have experience working in the health field. Students complete a total of 42 credits, including 15 hours of core coursework (in epidemiology, healthcare policy, administration, environmental health and biostatistics), 9 credit hours in Hispanic and border health coursework, 6 credit-hours of a hands-on practicum experience, as well as elective courses and a thesis or project.

University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio

At UT Health San Antonio, MPH students can choose to concentrate in epidemiology, health promotion/education, occupational and environmental health, or customize their own MPH concentration. Students may have the opportunity to gain real-world experience with one of the university's partner organizations, like the UTSA, San Antonio Metropolitan Health District or Brooke Army Medical Center.

At UT Health Houston, Students generally complete their MPH program in 18-24 months of full-time study. The university offers concentrations in biostatistics; environmental health; epidemiology; health promotion/education; management, policy and community health; and healthcare management.

University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler

The MPH program at UT Health Tyler's School of Community and Rural Health prepares graduates to work with vulnerable populations in rural settings. The program is designed to be completed in two years of full-time study.

Admissions Requirements for Master of Public Health Programs in Texas

To apply for a Master of Public Health degree, students must have completed a bachelor's degree in any field. They should have a GPA of at least 2.7-3.0. Most programs also require applicants to send in official graduate admission test scores. The specific score requirements and acceptable tests vary by program, however must programs accept either GRE, MCAT or GMAT scores. Applicants must also send in letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose essay, a curriculum vitae (or resume), and official transcripts.
