Scholarships for Master's in Science Education

Scholarship for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Teachers

This scholarship is being offered via the AFCEA Educational Foundation. In order to be eligible, students must be seeking a graduate degree that will allow the student to teach a STEM subject. Additionally, graduate students need to have completed at least one semester and be currently taking two courses per semester at an accredited U.S. university. The scholarship application will open in mid-January of 2020. At that time, students need to have at least a 3.5 GPA and reside within the U.S. The student that receives this scholarship will be awarded $2,500.

ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarship

The American Chemical Society is offering a scholarship for students that are currently pursuing a graduate degree in Chemistry with the intent to teach high school upon graduation. To be eligible the student needs to have obtained at least a Bachelor's in Chemistry, has previously worked in the Chemistry field (though not for more than one year as a teacher), have proof of U.S. citizenship/permanent residency, and be currently enrolled in a program to receive the accreditation needed to teach at the high school level. Students can apply for this scholarship until April 1, 2019. The amount rewarded depends on if the student is a full or part-time student. Full-time students will receive a $6,000 stipend while part-time students will receive a $3,000 stipend.

2020 Knowles Teaching Fellowship

Through the Knowles Teacher Initiative students can apply for this scholarship if the following conditions are met. The student must have/or will have completed a degree in a STEM field before September 1, 2020, with the intent to teach. Upon completion of the degree, the student needs to be entering the teaching field by September 1, 2020. The application process requires that students fill out an online form, upload a resume, write three essays, provide three letters of recommendation, and provide transcripts from all post-secondary colleges attended. The student that receives a fellowship from the Knowles Teacher Initiative will receive up to $10,000. The deadline for the fellowship is December 1, 2019.

The Applegate-Jackson-Parks Future Teacher Scholarship

The National Institute for Labor Relations Research is offering students pursuing a degree in education to apply for the $1,000 scholarship. Eligible students need to fill out the provided online form by no later than January 31st of each year. The chosen applicant will be able to show that the student is goal-oriented, academically inclined, and knowledgeable about the Right to Work principle. In addition to filling out the form, applicants are required to write an essay, provide references, and produce a recent transcript.

$500 Teacher.org's Inspire Our Future Scholarship

Teachor.org is extending to students a chance to apply for a $500 scholarship before October 31, 2019. To be eligible, applicants must either be pursuing a degree to become a teacher or have already received a teaching license. If currently a student, the applicant must have a 3.5 GPA, be 18 years or older, and fill out the required form. While filling out the form, each applicant is required to write an essay ranging from 500-700 words. The essay question will depend upon where the applicant is in his or her current educational journey.

Jack Kinnaman Scholarship

Students are eligible to apply for a $2,500 scholarship from the National Education Association. To be eligible students need to be an NEA member, have a 2.5 GPA, fill out the downloadable application, and provide recent transcripts. In addition, students need to have participated in NEA events and be able to write an essay that shows the student has financial need. Applicants have until April 15th to apply for the scholarship. To apply, students need to mail the required material to The NEA-Retired Jack Kinnaman Memorial Scholarship Application Center for Governance.

Individuals that are pursuing a Master's in Science Education are eligible for several scholarships. In order to be eligible for most of the scholarships, students need to show academic excellence, commitment, and need for assistance. Applicants that can offer service projects and letters of recommendation are more likely to be awarded such a scholarship.
