These online degree programs may require between 30 and 39 credits and, depending on the degree program, may be completed in as few as 12 months, be taken in a full- or part-time format, and/or provide students with dual degree options. Some of these master's programs may also require a capstone course and a range of common core courses, a handful of which are discussed in more detail here.

Accounting for Managers

Students in these courses learn how to develop meaningful measures to use in strategic business analysis. Courses may provide students with information on topics like forecasting, budgets, management compensation, transfer pricing, and strategic planning.

Applied Corporate Finance

Students may take one or more courses in applied corporate finance that explore real-world issues for corporate finance managers. Typically, this is done using case studies that discuss topics in capital structure, mergers and acquisitions, value creation, dividend policy, and internal rate of return. These courses may also equip students with the necessary financial tools to maximize their organization's value. Advanced courses in the subject may include hands-on experiences working in a variety of financial management settings.

Corporate Treasury/Financial Management

Students may take a course in corporate treasury management or corporate financial management that discusses the concepts and techniques used to manage an organization's finances. These courses train students to analyze opportunities and risks to make informed decisions. Other specific topics these courses examine may include portfolio management, budgeting, financial markets, multinational cash management, credit and accounts receivable management, and cash collection.

Students also learn how to analyze the potential for return and may discuss additional topics in areas like portfolios, mitigating risk, and diversification.

Ethics

Students in these courses study and discuss major ethical issues in conducting financial business, such as issues with discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful termination. These courses also typically explore the various regulatory challenges in business, including environmental regulations and regulations put in place to protect investors and financial systems. Other course topics may include securities fraud, social responsibility, regulatory authorities, and the role of management in ethics.

Admittance Requirements for Online Master's Programs in Corporate Finance

Students who have an interest in applying to an online Master of Science in Corporate Finance, Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance, or Master of Science in Finance with a concentration in corporate finance usually need to have at least a bachelor's degree.
