Medical Office Receptionist

General Health Care Careers: Medical Office Receptionist

Doctors' offices, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, children's clinics and all other health care providers require the services of medical office receptionists. These professionals greet patients, schedule appointments, process payment and insurance information, interact with other health care professionals and perform other more general office and clerical tasks. These positions may not require any specific education, but a bachelor's or associate's degree in business or communications along with some health care experience or coursework can be helpful when searching for a position. Most medical office receptionists earn $13 to $15 an hour depending on the job's duties, geographical location and other factors.
