What Kind of Program Is It?

The Bachelor of Science in Education/Elementary Education program is designed to provide students with skills for developing all-purpose curricula emphasizing literacy development. Participants will learn to assess cognitive patterns and recognize special needs students. They will also study communication strategies for collaborating with parents and other professionals. Other covered topics include student motivators, resource management, records organization and report writing. Additionally, the curriculum is intended to introduce a special project relating to English language immersion as well a teaching practicum. This program is available at University of Phoenix campuses and online.

What Are the Prerequisites?

You should have an interest in instructing young children up to early adolescents. You may have experience working in daycares, after school programs, or community youth organizations. Applicants to University of Phoenix programs should have a high school diploma or GED.

What Are the Course Requirements?

If you enroll in this University of Phoenix program, you will have to complete 120 credit hours of study; Kansas students must complete 124 credits. You will also participate in at least 100 hours of field observations and experiences.
