    What Kind of Program Is It?

    The Bachelor of Science in Human Services program at University of Phoenix focuses on theory, intervention, research and population diversity. Program course work covers behavioral and cognitive theories, ethics, human growth and development, treatments for drug and alcohol dependency, case management, and mental health services. Three field experiences offered throughout the program allow students to attend seminars and workshops, conduct interviews, and participate in supervised group sessions. This bachelor's degree program is offered at some University of Phoenix campuses.

    What Are the Prerequisites?

    Some current or prior experience in counseling can be beneficial. While not required, you might have taken previous courses in psychology. Prior courses designed to develop communication and management skills can also be helpful. Applicants to University of Phoenix programs should have a high school diploma or GED.
