It can lead to initial teacher licensure. You have the chance to learn about characteristics and strategies for teaching students with learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disabilities, and mental retardation. You also have the opportunity to learn about special education foundations and framework, classroom management, teaching English language learners, diagnosing and assessing students with disabilities, and the impact that physical and health impairments have on students.
