<p>Sanford-Brown's Certificate in Surgical Technology program is designed to offer you a comprehensive base in human anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology, including common illnesses and conditions and key terminology for the skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, reproductive, lymphatic, endocrine, and digestive systems. You will have the opportunity to study surgical room set-up, patient positioning and draping, hospital organization, surgical instrumentation, pharmacology used in the OR, and medical law and ethics. Coursework will examine common general surgical procedures, as well as procedures in specialties such as OB-GYN, ENT, neurology, orthopedic, cardiothoracic, pediatric, plastic and reconstructive, and ophthalmology surgeries. The program includes three externships that will allow you to develop skills in preparing and assisting in pre-, intra-, and post-operative procedures.
