What Kind of Program Is It?

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a concentration* in Information Systems Security curriculum is intended to cover applications development, database design, computer programming and Internet technologies. Students have the chance to learn about project planning and examine the interplay of technology and organizations. Within the concentration area, participants have the opportunity to access remote, hands-on lab exercises related to Windows server administration as well as study file management techniques and general commands for UNIX operating systems. Students also study prevailing precautionary and defense practices for Web, telecommunications, network and operating systems. This program is offered online and at University of Phoenix campuses.

What Are the Prerequisites?

You may be analytical and detail-oriented and enjoy keeping up-to-date with technology. You may also have experience working with computers, though this is not required. Applicants to University of Phoenix programs should have a high school diploma or GED.

What Are the Course Requirements?

This undergraduate degree program includes 45 credits in the required course of study and 15 credits in the concentration. Some courses have prerequisites. In addition, students must satisfy general education and elective requirements to meet the 120-credit minimum (124 for Kansas students) including a minimum of 42 upper division credits required for completion of the degree.
