About Georgetown University

Located in Washington, D.C., Georgetown University was founded in 1789 and is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit university in the U.S. Today, this private, non-profit university is considered a leading international research university. Georgetown offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree and certificate programs though nine schools, including a variety of online programs through its School of Continuing Studies (SCS). The online programs allow busy adult learners to earn a degree in a high-demand field while still keeping up with their current professional and family obligations.

As an online student at Georgetown, you have access to the same high-quality courses as those in Georgetown's on-campus programs. Currently, Georgetown SCS offers a wide range of master's degrees in online formats, including programs in business & management, marketing & communications, real estate, higher education, and technology & security.

The online courses are offered in either a 15-week or short 7.5-week format. Most courses are asynchronous and allow students to log in and view lectures and complete their coursework on their own time frame, though you may sometimes be required to log in at a specific time in order to participate in a class discussion or interact with a presenter or professor. Online students also have access to a variety of resources, including 24/7 technical support, access to the University Library System's eResources, full alumni benefits, and opportunities to partake in on-campus speaker panels, workshops, and events via livestream.
