The certification and, in some cases, educational requirements to become a private (non-public) school teacher in the state of Ohio are different from those to become a public school teacher. However, with the right qualifications, one could teach in a chartered non-public school without having earned a bachelor's degree. This degree should be related to the subject one would like to teach. All applications are done through the Ohio Department of Education's Connected Ohio Records for Educators system (CORE). </p> <h4 id="section---CharteredNonPublicInstitutionsWithBachelorSDegree">Chartered Non-public Institutions (with bachelor's degree)</h4> <p>Those with a bachelor's degree who want to teach in a chartered school must apply for the permanent non-tax certificate. In order to apply, they must upload their official transcript or transcripts. All pages must be uploaded. The registrar's signature, transcript key/guide, the date the degree was conferred must all be visible. Those with have a bachelor's degree and who have completed a teacher preparation program, should also consider applying for a public school teaching certificate. Application for the Resident Educator License requires a bachelor's degree and the completion of a teacher's preparation program. Candidates must also pass several licensure exams.
