General Information About Walden University
Walden University was founded in 1970 as a summer residency program by two teachers seeking a new way for working educators to pursue doctoral degrees. In 1972, it awarded 46 Ph.D.s and 24 educational specialist degrees.
Today, Walden University, which is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, is completely online and it offers more than 85 degree programs and over 435 specializations and concentrations. Programs are available in the fields of education, management and technology, social sciences and health sciences.

Walden University offers a variety of services to students. Enrollment advisors can help students understand admissions requirements and funding options. Technical support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Students can also access online tutoring though Walden's writing center and career services.

Walden University courses are taught by professors who are scholars, researchers and practitioners. Students have the opportunity to develop practical skills in their chosen field. Practicum experiences give students the chance to apply their knowledge and in-person residencies are also available.
