For students interested in business programs, there are two primary options, both taught on campus.

Requirements for Business Majors at UIUC
UIUC offers a few options for business majors at the bachelor's level.
These options are business, data science, agricultural, and consumer economics majors with concentrations in agribusiness markets and management and agribusiness finance.
Students will also need to complete UIUC's general education requirements.

General Education Requirements
General education course requirements are a group of core courses that all students must complete.
These courses span a variety of fields and are meant to provide a solid foundation for all subjects.
At UIUC, general education courses come from the following areas:
- Composition
- Cultural Studies
- Foreign Language
- Humanities and the Arts
- Natural Sciences and Technology
- Quantitative Reasoning
- Social and Behavioral Sciences
For most areas, students can choose the specific course they want to take so long as it fulfills that requirement.
Both majors listed below also require a public speaking course.
However, the business and data science major includes this as a major course, while the agriculture and consumer economics course considers this a prerequisite.
Business and Data Science Major
The business and data science major teaches about business on a broad scale and prepares students for careers that allow them to manage and interpret data sets.
There are 14 core business courses in this major, including:
- Accounting and Accountancy
- Fundamentals of Operations Management
- Principles of Marketing
- Business Dynamics
- Public Speaking
- Corporate Finance
There are also eight core data science courses required. These include:
- Data Science Discovery
- Data Science Exploration
- Algorithms and Data Structures for Data Science
- Ethics and Policy for Data Science
Additionally, students choose one calculus course and one linear algebra course as part of the data science core.
Students also choose a concentration within this program, and take four courses for that concentration.
There are four concentrations available:
- Information Systems: Teaches students how to design and implement technology that businesses can use to organize data and make decisions
- International Business: Prepares students for making business decisions on a global scale
- Management: Trains students to become leaders and innovators in data science
- Operations Management: Helps students learn skills for developing, making, and delivering goods and services
All students complete the degree with a capstone experience.
This is an active learning, real-client experience that will allow students to combine their data science skills with their business skills.
Agricultural & Consumer Economics
The agriculture and consumer economics (ACE) major is designed to go beyond the basics of business, economics, and policy to solve challenges in food, agriculture, consumer protection, energy, and the environment.
Students will discover factors that influence commodity prices and learn how to manage price risk through futures and options markets.
Nine concentrations are available, and all students are required to take the course 'Contemporary Issues in ACES.'
Students must also take at least two 400-level courses in ACE and at least three hours of credit for study abroad or an international course.
Agribusiness Markets and Management
In the agribusiness markets and management concentration, students discover factors that influence commodity prices and learn how to manage price risk through futures and options markets.
This concentration requires students to take three core courses:
- Agricultural Marketing
- Food and Agribusiness Management
- Accounting and Accountancy
Students then choose three additional courses from a list of preselected ACE courses.
Finance in Agribusiness
The finance in agribusiness concentration teaches students about all aspects of the financial management of firms that are connected to agriculture and agribusiness, including the financial institutions and financial markets that serve the industry.
Students must take six core courses, including:
- Financial Decisions for Individuals and Small Businesses
- Spreadsheet Models and Applications
- Financial Services and Investment Planning
- Modeling Applications in Financial Planning
Additionally, students choose two courses from a list of preselected ACE and finance courses.
