What Are the UCF Math Degree Transfer Requirements?
Students transferring into UCF will be sorted into three main groups:
- Fewer than 30 transferrable credit hours
- Between 30 and 60 transferrable credit hours
- More than 60 transferrable credit hours
These three groups of transfer students each have their requirement sets as they are all at different stages of an education journey.
Students who have been attending a different college or university for several semesters will be expected to complete more math classes than students who are still new to their higher education journey.
UCF requires that at least 12 of these credit hours, regardless of total, must have been completed after high school at a certified college or university.

Students With Fewer Than 30 Transferrable Credit Hours
To qualify for transfer status, as opposed to general application, a student that has fewer than 30 credit hours.
If your college credits were earned via testing or AP coursework, you will need to apply for general enrollment, not a transfer.
Students with fewer than 30 credit hours also must be in good academic standing, meaning they could continue at their current/previous university without problem.
There isn't a required amount of math that a student in this group needs to have completed before transferring.
Students who have only taken a few classes might not have had a chance to take a math class yet and this won't be held against them in the transferring process.
Students That Have Between 30 and 60 Transferrable Credit Hours
More is expected of transferring students with 30 or more credit hours because they have on average completed at least a year or two of college (even if some of these hours were earned with AP classes).
These students must have completed a collegiate-level math course worth a minimum of three credit hours.
A further requirement is that the student needed to pass the class with at least a C (or a 2.0 GPA).
The UCF math degree transfer requirements don't specify which math class is required, so students could have taken courses such as:
- Algebra
- Trigonometry
- Geometry
- Calculus
Students With More Than 60 Transferrable Credit Hours
Students with over 60 credit hours they are trying to transfer are required to have completed two college-level math courses with a final grade of C (2.0) or higher.
Much like the students with 30 to 60 credit hours, there isn't a required math course to satisfy the UCF math degree transfer requirements.
Do All Programs Have the Same UCF Math Degree Transfer Requirements?
All students transferring their degree to the University of Central Florida will be subjected to the same minimum requirements, however, some programs will include additional requirements.
If you're transferring into one of the hard science programs (such as physics, engineering, or similar degrees) or a mathematics major that will include advanced mathematics courses or at least more math classes, the transfer requirements might be different.
Are All Math Classes Transferrable To UCF?
Not all math classes will be transferable to UCF.
If you're taking classes with a plan to transfer, such as starting at a community college, you should make sure you're taking courses that will transfer.
These classes will almost always be transferrable as these will satisfy math requirements for almost every degree:
- Algebra
- Trigonometry
- Calculus
More specialized math classes, such as some forms of business math, won't count towards math requirements for all degree programs.
