Required Math Courses
Students must complete one and a half years of calculus and ensure they continue through multivariable calculus. Transfer applicants must also take differential equations or linear algebra.
Strongly Recommended Math Courses
UCLA also strongly recommends that transfer students take one introductory C++ course and finish a full calculus series that includes differential equations and linear algebra.
Non-Mathematics Requirements
Whether you plan to major in mathematics or another of UCLA's more than 125 undergraduate majors, the following transfer criteria should be met.
- Obtain 60 semester units or 90 quarter units (junior-level standing) at the end of spring term before transferring.
- Earn a 3.2 GPA or higher in the courses that can be transferred to UCLA.
- By the spring before transfer, complete two transferrable English composition or critical thinking and writing courses.
- By the spring before transfer, complete four transferrable courses in at least two subject areas that include social and behavioral sciences, arts and humanities, and physical and biological sciences.
Students not majoring in math should also complete one transferable math course with a prerequisite of at least intermediate algebra. Students are only admitted during the fall quarter.
