Both programs require 124 credit hours; the main difference is that the B.A. has more foreign language requirements than the B.S. </p> <p>Both programs can teach you about remote sports production and FM operations at foundational and advanced levels. Additional courses cover the production, post-production and audio production of sporting events, as well as how to produce a sports documentary. At the culmination of either degree program, you'll have to complete a senior seminar and an internship. </p> <h3 id="section---IndianaUniversityBloomington">Indiana University - Bloomington</h3> <p>Indiana University - Bloomington offers a B.S. in Kinesiology with a major in sport communication and an emphasis in broadcast. The program also offers an emphasis in print if you're more interested in working for a newspaper or sports magazine. This major is presented through a collaboration between the departments of kinesiology and telecommunications. With a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, as opposed to media or mass communication, more emphasis is placed on the sports themselves and the science of human movement. The 124-hour curriculum features classes on exercise science, sports in America and sport psychology, in addition to courses involving media, society, design, production, industry and management aspects of telecommunications. Although not required, it's highly recommended that you take part in an internship to gain hands-on experience in the sports and communications industries. </p> <h3 id="section---WesternIllinoisUniversity">Western Illinois University</h3> <p>WIU features a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting with an emphasis in sports broadcasting, as well as a minor in sports broadcasting at its Macomb campus. They'll also have experience with radio broadcasting, working in production trucks and television studios, writing live game blogs and producing podcasts.
