Albany Technical College
Originally known as Monroe Area Vocational-Technical School - a school with only 175 students - Albany Technical College today offers a Firefighter/EMSP diploma program that qualifies you for certification/licensure and employment as a Firefighter I, Firefighter II, EMT or AEMT in Georgia. You'll learn about fire and life safety, shock and trauma, hazardous materials and medical emergencies. The curriculum includes classroom studies and clinical applications for both the EMT and the firefighter. The college also offers a 36-hour EMT-Basic refresher course through its economic development program.

The curriculum for the EMT program includes lectures and clinical applications to help obtain hands-on training. You'll study infectious diseases, medical assessments, shock and trauma, airway management, pharmacology and medical terminology. You'll also learn CPR, workplace safety and how to deal with a patient with special needs. Upon completion of the courses, you can take the NREMT certification exam and obtain licensure as an EMT in Georgia.
