About South Texas Vocational Technical Institute

Opened in 1973 as a language academy in Brownsville, Texas, South Texas Vocational Technical Institute today spans five campuses located in the southern part of the state and offers four programs each in health care and skilled trades as well as a business-focused program in computer accounting. Three of the campuses - San Antonio, McAllen, and Corpus Christi - are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), while the institute's Weslaco and Brownsville campuses are accredited by The Council on Occupational Education (COE).

From computer labs to welding labs, STVT offers hands-on learning opportunities. Programs like dental and medical assisting offer clinical, lab, and administrative studies, while skilled trade programs allow you to learn on industry-standard equipment so you're fully prepared to work in the field. HVAC, automotive, and heavy truck - diesel programs offer study in installation, repair, and maintenance of various systems, such as steering, brake, electrical, and suspension for cars and heavy trucks; EPA regulations; cooling and heating theory; and the use of diagnostic equipment. The welding program covers several common techniques, including shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and flux core arc welding.

Flexible class scheduling (classes start each month) makes it easy for you to complete your studies without interfering with other professional or personal obligations. At STVT, you can rest assured that we are focused on your success!
