<h2 id="section---FrequentlyAskedQuestions">Frequently Asked Questions</h2> <h3 id="section---WhatKindOfProgramIsIt">What Kind of Program Is It?</h3> <p>As a student in NCU's Master of Arts in Marriage &amp; Family Therapy program, you'll have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and real-word experience in marriage and family therapy (MFT). The core courses cover the classic and intergenerational models of MFT, treatment planning, legal and ethical issues in MFT, models of couples therapy and sex therapy, case management, and family dynamics. The specialization courses allow students to focus on the diagnosis of and intervention methods for psychological disorders that can appear in childhood and adolescence. You will also focus on contemporary issues in children and adolescents therapy during the research course. All MA-MFT students must complete 500 client contact hours (half of which must be with couples and/or families) at an approved location prior to graduation. </p> <h3 id="section---WhatAreThePrerequisites">What Are the Prerequisites?</h3> <p>If you are considering this program, you should have strong communication and intrapersonal skills as well as patience. You should have a desire to enter a career in marriage and family therapy and will need to submit a statement of intent, a licensure plan, current CV, and list of possible clinical sites.
