Sports Management Graduate Degree Programs in New York

Adelphi University

The Master of Science in Sport Management program at Adelphi University consists of 36 credit hours, explores contemporary sport management and marketing strategies, and allows students to choose a concentration in sport marketing, sport-based youth development, or collegiate athletic administration. Students can also pursue a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in sport management to gain a deeper understanding of business topics such as finance, economics, and regulations (33 or more credit hours).

Canisius College

Canisius College has a Master of Sport Administration program that can be completed online, on-campus, or via a hybrid format in just over one year and provides students with several opportunities for internships with partnering organizations. The program enables students to prepare research for publication and consists of 33 credit hours, including courses in managerial statistics, sport communication, sport finance, and ethics in sport.

Columbia University in the City of New York

Students can earn a Master of Science in Sports Management at Columbia University in as little as one year (full-time) or as many as four years (part-time). The on-campus program consists of 36 credit hours, an internship or project, and allows students to use their electives for a more focused program in one of the following areas: global sports, digital sports media and marketing, and sports analytics.

CUNY Brooklyn College

The Master of Science in Sport Management program at CUNY Brooklyn College consists of 36 credit hours and allows students to select 15 credits of electives based on their interests. Students will develop their knowledge in a variety of sport areas, including public relations, retail and manufacturing, finance, coaching, marketing, and facilities.

Manhattanville College

Manhattanville College has a Master of Science in Sport Business and Entertainment Management program that consists of 36 credit hours with courses that cover marketing, communications, leadership in sports, and legal implications. Students can choose a concentration in sport business or entertainment management and must complete a capstone course.

Niagara University

The 36-credit-hour Master of Science in Sport Management program at Niagara University gives students several opportunities for hands-on experience through internships and/or work with the school's Division I athletic department. Students will explore various topics throughout the curriculum, including ethics in sport, research methods, structure of sport organizations, sport marketing, and external relations for sport organizations.

St. John's University - New York

St. John's University in New York has a Masters of Professional Studies (MPS) in Sport Management that prepares graduates for roles in facilities, promotions, public relations, and more. The program consists of 36 credit hours and could include courses in sport management, communication, leadership in sport, and innovation in sport; students can also choose to add an optional concentration in the international business of sport management or coaching leadership.

SUNY Cortland

For those who are interested in working with professional and collegiate sports organizations, SUNY Cortland has a Master of Science in Sport Management program that consists of 30 credit hours, 6 of which are attributed to either an internship or a degree project. Alternatively, students who would like to work with international sports teams and organizations can pursue a 30-credit Master of Science in International Sport Management in which they will earn 6 or more of those credits through an international internship/study abroad experience.
