General Information About Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts
Le Cordon Bleu Schools of North America, a subsidiary of the Career Education Corporation, is partnered with the original Le Cordon Bleu culinary school founded in Paris in 1895. There are 15 Le Cordon Bleu schools across the country, each affiliated with an accredited regional school. This means that graduates of Le Cordon Blue colleges earn the Le Cordon Bleu Diplôme, and, in addition, receive associate's degrees from the regional sister schools. Because regional schools are accredited by different organizations, the certificates and diploma types vary from school to school.
Le Cordon Bleu schools associate degree programs include hospitality and restaurant management, culinary arts and pâtisserie and baking. In addition, Le Cordon Bleu Schools of North America offers an online Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Management. While the associate's degrees can typically be earned in under a year, the bachelor's degree takes at least 15 months and assumes all associate level credit has been earned. Notable alumni of Le Cordon Bleu programs include Julia Child, Food Network chefs Giada De Laurentiis and Mario Batali and food writer Kathleen Flinn.

All applicants must have high school diplomas or GEDs. To enroll in a Le Cordon Bleu program, applicants should select a location from the Le Cordon Bleu Schools of North America website and complete the online enrollment application. Each applicant must also attend a personal interview, which enables program administrators to determine if the applicant is suited to the program. In addition, prospective students must execute an Enrollment Agreement, pay the non-refundable payment of application and submit applicable financial aid paperwork. They also are required to demonstrate English and math proficiency by submitting official college transcripts or ACT scores or completing an academic placement exam.
Financial Aid Information
Financial aid programs include the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Stafford Loan, the Federal PLUS Loan (Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students) and Federal Work Study (FWS). Le Cordon Bleu schools also offer scholarship competitions, such as the Future Chefs of America competition, the Le Cordon Bleu Pastry Market Basket and the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Market Basket. Additional financial aid, such as grants and private loans, varies from program to program. For information about financial aid by specific location, students should contact that location's financial aid office.
Career and Job Placement Services
During the enrollment interview, admissions representatives help students identify their career goals and areas of interest. Each location has a Career Services office, which helps students find part-time employment as they pursue their studies; however, career services are only available to students making good academic progress. Upon graduation, Le Cordon Bleu schools offer graduate placement assistance, as well as guidance on interviewing skills, resume writing and networking techniques.
