About
The Facts on Touro University Worldwide
Touro University Worldwide is a nonprofit, private university with its primary campus in Los Alamitos, California. Founded on Jewish religious principles, the university is dedicated to social justice and philanthropic behavior in addition to the pursuit of knowledge. As such, Touro University Worldwide attempts to provide services to struggling populations, with simple admissions requirements, affordable tuition, and online course structures that minimize the costs associated with higher education. Touro University Worldwide condenses its focus, offering bachelor's degrees to doctorates in areas of business, psychology, and health and human services.
A further part of this commitment to underserved communities is demonstrated in Touro University Worldwide's transfer student policies. Depending on the degree level, students may bring in up to 90 credit hours from up to seven years ago. Students can also obtain credit from alternative sources, like high school Advanced Placement (AP) exams, military training, or other forms of relevant life experience. These factors combine to give Touro University Worldwide's newest students as much of an advantage as possible when it comes to completing their degree.
Touro University Worldwide also attempts to keep the costs of higher education down through their approach to online education. Courses begin frequently - six times a year for eight week terms, meaning that students won't have to wait long for the classes they need. All classes are completely online, with no residency requirements for graduate programs. In a rare move, tuition costs include access to all course materials, like required texts, eliminating the extra costs of textbooks. This unique approach helps to set Touro University apart as one of the best cost-to-value ratios in online education.
Student Testimonials
'I have found my experiences at Touro to be rewarding and motivating. The staff and faculty have worked with me in positive and constructive ways to help me achieve my educational goals. Thank you, Touro!' - Carolyn Barravecchio
'I needed to feel sure that what I thought I knew about new media was actually borne out in reality. Touro University's Worldwide program brought together the elements that I felt least sure about and offered the course in an innovative and exciting way. The program is an exploration in how the new world might come together through media communications. It also offers me the chance to connect with people of diverse experiences and perspectives and expand my network.' - Raoul Morris
'I just got a Facebook ping from a friend saying, 'You're doing what all of us talk about, but haven't done.' I've loved the TUW pacing, content and colleagues I've encountered in my first course of the TUW Master's program. It's such an intellectual homecoming, yet nearly everything is new! Professor Kagon has offered a world of materials that I need to know, and didn't. It's challenging work, academically sound and a stretch for hungry mental muscles. I think I've grown intellectually in just 8 weeks.' - Martin Perlmutter
