Clinical data managers create and perform tests on pharmaceutical and medical products before they are released to the market. You can obtain a certification in clinical data management by taking an exam after completing a certification program, obtaining a college degree, or working a minimum number of hours in the field.

Clinical data managers design and implement these tests, then monitor the results. In such a position, you may also be a part of the research design process, ensuring that the study is designed around the technology and processes necessary to meet government regulations.

To become eligible based on experience alone, you must either work four or more years full-time in clinical data management or the part-time equivalent.
