These training programs can also be the stepping stone to obtaining your registered nursing license or a bachelor's degree in nursing.

Your coursework could include basic nursing skills, nutrition, and medical ethics. You may take courses in working with special populations, like pediatrics or geriatrics. Other courses include:

A traditional full-time program can be completed in 12-14 months, while part-time and weekend programs could take up to 20 months. While you can find hybrid programs that offer some courses online, you can still expect to participate in clinical training and labs in person.

Many nursing programs also require a background check. In addition, you may be required to carry insurance and receive immunizations before becoming eligible for a program. Some schools even require introductory or general education courses before being admitted into a nursing program.
</p><h3 id="section---WhatWouldIBeResponsibleFor">What Would I Be Responsible For?</h3><p>As an LVN, you could interact directly with patients and check blood sugar, blood pressure and temperature. You might also observe and report patient symptoms and answer patient questions. You may have other responsibilities depending on the state where you work.</p>
