<p>Commonly considered a main area of philosophical inquiry, metaphysics deals with questions regarding the nature of being. Although there may be no undergraduate degree specifically in metaphysics, bachelor's degrees in philosophy are available and may include some coursework in metaphysics. Students who already hold a bachelor's degree can pursue a graduate degree in philosophy with a concentration or courses in metaphysics.

<p>At the undergraduate level, many 4-year Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy programs include metaphysics coursework. You'll also study topics like introductory logic, the philosophy of religion, ancient philosophy and ethics. Specializations may be available in areas like pre-law, ethical theory and technology and science.

<p>Some Master of Arts in Philosophy programs allow a specialization in metaphysics and epistemology. These programs usually take two years to complete and require completion of a thesis paper.

<p>Doctoral programs in philosophy allow interested students to take courses on metaphysics. You may need to submit a written sample of your own philosophical work in order to gain admission to a doctoral program. Most schools also look for applicants who have a strong undergraduate background in philosophy.
