These programs could be useful to you if you plan to pursue graduate studies. </p><p>In a bachelor's degree program, Russian literature topics are incorporated into many of the required and elective courses. Russian history, language, art, and film studies might also be offered. The emphasis on literature focuses on Russian novelists, poetry and artistic periods, such as the Age of Experiment or postmodernism. With both degree levels, you're qualified for scholarly work in analysis and literary theory. If your career goal is to teach at the postsecondary level, you'll need a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) to apply for professor and lecturer positions. </p><p>In master's programs, you'll progress into subjects like stylistics and history of the Russian language. You could choose from a wide variety of specializations within Russian literature at this level, such as medieval Slavic literature or contemporary Russian authors. For successful completion of the program, you might need to demonstrate proficiency in another language and complete a thesis or research project. </p><p>In a Ph.D. program, you're required to master an additional Slavic or European language, such as Polish, German or Ukrainian. You'll be expected to have knowledge about Russian culture, history, literature and linguistics, as well as complete a dissertation based on extensive research in a chosen specialization.</p>
