Does Apple Offer Tuition Reimbursement?

Apple offers a tuition reimbursement program to full-time employees who work 20 hours or more a week. This program reimburses students up to $5,250 per calendar year for educational expenses, including tuition, fees, and required materials.

Courses need to be approved by Bright Horizons, the company that administers this program for Apple. They also must be through an accredited institution and be related to your career path at Apple.

Understanding UMass Global's & Apple's Education Program

UMass Global is a private, online branch of the public University of Massachusetts. Apple and UMass Global have teamed up to help eligible employees at Apple obtain a degree or certificate without taking out student loans.

Tuition Assistance

Through the partnership between Apple and UMass Global, students can earn undergraduate or graduate degrees or complete a certificate program without paying any out-of-pocket costs. Apple pays the tuition costs to UMass Global upfront.

UMass Global offers various college degrees and certificate programs. Additionally, the university offers scholarships to reduce tuition costs to Apple employees, their spouses, and their dependents.

Reimbursement Limit

Apple sets a reimbursement limit of $5,250 per calendar year. However, this doesn't necessarily mean your tuition needs to fall below this level.

All students who need help paying for their college tuition should fill out the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). This determines if you're eligible for any federal or state scholarships or grants, and also allows you to apply for other financial aid options.

The $5,250 you receive will go toward whatever tuition remains after other types of financial aid. For example, if your degree program is $10,000 per year and you receive $5,000 from the Pell Grant, the amount from your employee benefits will cover the rest.

Are Costs Associated With Books and Supplies Covered?

Apple's tuition assistance program will cover tuition costs, fees, and costs associated with books and supplies. However, there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, the $5,250 that Apple covers is for all costs, so if you are reimbursed for books and supplies, you won't be able to use that money toward tuition. Second, if you want to be reimbursed for books and supplies, you must keep track of and submit your receipts.

Eligibility

Corporate employees and retail employees are eligible for the Apple/UMass program. To qualify, corporate employees must work at least 20 hours a week and have been employed by Apple for at least six months, and retail employees must work at least 15 hours a week and have been employed by Apple for at least six months.

This means you don't have to work full-time to qualify for this financial assistance; part-time employees qualify too. You'll also need a high school diploma or GED equivalent, as these are required for acceptance to UMass Global.

Employment Status

As we just mentioned, both full-time and part-time employees can qualify for this program. However, in order to receive these benefits, you'll need to be employed at Apple from the beginning to the end of the course you want covered.

What Educational Programs Does Apple Cover?

Through the partnership with UMass Global, Apple will help cover associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, certificate programs, and some non-credit-bearing programs. A more specific list is available through EdAssist.

UMass Global offers traditional, term-based learning schedules and a flexible, self-paced schedule called MyPath. Apple will assist with both types of schedules.

For students using Apple's education assistance program, the MyPath option may be a better choice. Rather than paying per credit, students pay a flat rate of $2,625 every six months and take as many courses as they like within those six months. Through the Apple/UMass Global partnership, students learning through MyPath can get their full tuition covered.

Is There a Minimum Grade Requirement To Maintain Benefits?

According to UMass Global, Apple requires a B- or better in term-based programs or a mastery (M) grade for MyPath courses.

Partnership With Bright Horizons EdAssist Solutions

Apple partners with Bright Horizons EdAssist Solutions, an organization that helps businesses design and manage their education benefits package for employees. As a result, the application process and funding all go through EdAssist.

Pre-Approval

First, you'll want to ensure you can use your Apple financial assistance. Log on to your Apple benefits site to review your education assistance policy.

If you have questions about your policy, reach out to EdAssist. For questions about UMass Global or its programs, visit umassglobal.edu.

Apply Online

You must apply online using the UMass Global Apple EdAssist application link. Don't apply through the main UMass Global application.

You'll need to do the following:

• use an email account that you check frequently
• enter your social security number
• select Apple (EdAssist) as your employer

Once accepted, you'll also need to complete the EdAssist application. You can do this through the portal on your Apple employee benefits website.

Keep Track of Application Status

After you submit your application for UMass Global, reach out to schedule a session with an enrollment coach. Make sure you mention that you're part of the Apple partnership and they'll guide you through the next steps.

When you receive the notification that you're accepted, you'll meet with your UMass Global One Stop Specialist. Once you do this, you can complete the EdAssist application and submit your Letter of Credit.

Academic Support

You'll work with an academic advisor, who will help you review your transcript articulation, pick your courses, and plan your learning path. Your advisor will be with you through your entire program, providing guidance and support.
