Our History

Full Sail University began 1979 in Dayton, Ohio, as an audio recording workshop. It provided unparalleled opportunity for students to become familiar with the industry through real-world experience in professional studio environments. Full Sail eventually relocated to Central Florida, planting roots in its current Winter Park location in 1989. Its project-based, relevant educational philosophy was readily adapted to other fields in entertainment and media from filmmaking, to digital media, to entertainment business which combined time working on real-world environments with instruction by industry veterans. Today, Full Sail University offers associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees designed for evolving industries across entertainment, media, art, and technology.

Full Sail’s mission is to provide students with an innovative style of education, delivered by a staff of dedicated individuals, that addresses the career opportunities available in an ever-growing, constantly evolving industry. We do this by developing unique curricula that combine elements of creativity, art, business and life skills, technical prowess, and academic achievement. From Full Sail University

Full Sail University isn't like your traditional college. We do things faster and more efficiently- like the pros do. Our degrees contain more credit hours per month than traditional schools so you can finish in as few as 20 or 27 months. Each program is project-based with a focus on real-world experience so you can build your portfolio and showcase your creativity.

Our customized learning platforms combine real-time collaboration and hands-on projects, for both online and on campus. As a grad, you’ll be invited to exclusive hiring events, alumni mixers, guest lectures, and more.

Whether you are attending online, or on campus, we provide you with many avenues to build a community to thrive in. From student clubs to an ongoing partnership with WWE, Full Sail also participates in many local events. This year we hosted the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Grand Finals and participated in the Florida Film Festival.
