<h3 id="section---EducationalRequirementsForPETeachers">Educational Requirements for PE Teachers</h3>
<p>In Kansas, you should enroll in an accredited teacher preparation program to earn your bachelor's degree. Initial teaching licensure also requires eight college credits completed from the last six years or one year of related work experience.

<h3 id="section---PraxisTestingRequirements">Praxis Testing Requirements</h3>
<p>Upon entering a teacher preparation program, you may have to take the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators exam. You will be scored on your proficiency in math, writing, and reading. All candidates for initial teacher licensure in Kansas will need to earn passing scores on one of the four Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching exams. You must also receive a passing score of 148 on the Praxis Physical Education: Content Knowledge test. This test will certify you to teach PE to students of all ages in the state.

<p>You will need to receive a clear background check from both the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

<h3 id="section---InitialTeachingLicenseRequirements">Initial Teaching License Requirements</h3>
<p>In Kansas, you will submit an online application for your initial teaching license. After registering on the Kansas Licensure Application System's website and submitting your application, you will be able to check the status of it.

<h3 id="section---InitialTeachingLicenseRenewalRequirements">Initial Teaching License Renewal Requirements</h3>
<p>The renewal application for initial teaching licensure is also submitted online via the Kansas Licensure Application System. If the first renewal of your license is completed within five years of issuance, you will need to submit Form 20, along with a processing fee. If your renewal is past the five-year mark, you will need to meet one of the below criteria set forth by the state:
