Purdue Global Academic Calendar | Semester Schedules

This article provides important information about the academic calendar, or term schedules, for courses at Purdue Global. It's important to remember that not every course or every program has the same timetable, so be sure to learn the schedule for the program you want to enroll in.

Courses leading to bachelor's degrees at Purdue Global follow a 10-week term. Depending upon the degree program (and in some cases, the particular course) in which you enroll, you will find your schedule following one of three Academic Calendar Tracks: A, B, or C.

The largest number of bachelor's programs at Purdue Global align with Track C. For example, the Bachelor of Science (BS) in communication follows the Track C academic calendar, as do the BS in health information management and the BS in criminal justice, among many others.

Many programs, such as the Bachelor of Science programs in cybersecurity, business administration, information technology, finance, or psychology, list courses aligned with any of the three Purdue calendar tracks (A, B, or C) for their programs.

Finally, a handful of degree programs, like the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), utilize two of the three calendar tracks, such as tracks A and C.

Important Points and Deadlines Throughout Each Term

Regardless of which month or date any particular term starts, the official academic calendar that applies to your course or courses will provide key deadlines that occur at important points along the way.

It's essential that you, as a student, stay alert to and aware of these deadlines, since missing one can have serious consequences on your grade point average or on your budget.

For example, dropping or withdrawing from a course after the official deadline will require you to pay tuition even if you do not finish the course.

You may also receive a 'W' instead of a grade or, even worse, receive a failing grade if you stop attending and do not withdraw by the deadline.

Last Day to Add/Drop a Class Without a 'W'

You may add a new course or switch out one course for another during the first week of classes. This add/drop period ends on the seventh day of the term. Changes you make to your schedule before the deadline will be accepted without financial or academic penalty.

However, if you decide you want to drop a course after the add/drop deadline, you'll receive a 'W' grade on your transcript. You'll also incur financial responsibility for 100% of the course tuition.

In addition, withdrawing from a course can affect your financial aid eligibility as well as the time required to complete your degree.

Last Day of Attendance To Stay Enrolled / First Day of IP Withdrawals

To succeed in any course, Purdue Global expects each student to stay actively engaged in it.

This requires you to submit assignments on time and participate in any discussion boards, seminars, and other learning features. Your instructor will maintain attendance records, even for online courses, based on your engagement.

Any traditional course in which you do not log attendance by the twelfth day of the term/session will administratively be removed from your schedule.

If you withdraw from a course, you will receive a 'W' grade, unless you withdraw within the final two weeks of the term. In this case, you'll receive a temporary 'IP' grade which will be reviewed after the end of the term.

Last Day of Purdue Global's Commitment Trial Period

Purdue Global offers every new student the option of a three-week, penalty-free introductory period, allowing you to experience our curriculum and faculty. If you decide Purdue Global is not the fit for you, you can opt out with no financial obligation.

The Week 3 checkpoint is the time to let the school officially know if you no longer wish to continue. If you continue past that period, you will be liable for all tuition and fees.

Last Day for Students to Request Incomplete / Incomplete Coursework Due from Students

A student may request a grade of Incomplete in a course when the instructor agrees that additional time beyond the course's end date would permit the student to achieve their learning goals and assignments.

Before requesting an incomplete, you should have completed at least 75% of the course assignments. You need to submit the request to your instructor at least one week before the end of the course. The final decision about granting an incomplete grade belongs to the instructor.
