Where Can I Earn My Paramedic Certification in New York State?

Find schools in New York State offering paramedic certification programs. Learn about program requirements, prerequisites, and course offerings so that you can make an informed decision about your education.

Paramedics have the opportunity to save lives every day. If you want to become a paramedic in New York, there are several colleges in the state that offer training programs.

What You Need to Know

Students located in New York that are interested in becoming certified as a paramedic may choose to complete a paramedic training program that earns them only the eligibility to take the national certification examination, or may elect to earn a certificate or associate's degree as a paramedic. All paramedic training programs are offered by two-year schools throughout the state, most of which are publicly funded. All but one of the programs mandate that applicants be currently certified as an EMT; at least one associate's degree program in paramedicine includes EMT training in the curriculum. A certificate in paramedicine may be earned in one year; an associate's degree in the field requires two years of study.
