Students desiring to study to become a physical therapy assistant in Florida have a number of schools from which to choose in earning the requisite degree. Associate's degrees are offered by at least four public, four-year schools. These programs typically require about two years of full-time study. Broward College

The PTA program at Broward College is offered in a distance learning format with real-time broadcasted lectures. Lab experiences and clinicals are held on campus and at approved medical facilities. Admission to this program is selective, based on GPA and successful completion of general education courses. Courses in this full-time day program include survey of pathological deficits, applied kinesiology, rehabilitative procedures, basic pharmacology, disabilities and therapeutic procedures. Upon completion of courses, lab studies and clinical rotations, you're required to take the PTA licensing examination.

Your curriculum consists of courses in disabilities and therapeutic procedures, kinesiology, pharmacology for PTAs, healthcare ethics and introductory physical therapy. Clinical rotations are held at medical sites in the area.
