Spa Receptionist Job Description

As a spa receptionist, it's your job to assist customers coming to the spa. You greet customers and direct them on where to go. In addition, you answer phone calls and manage the spa's schedule. It's your job to make sure customers have a pleasant experience while at the spa, starting from when they walk in the door until they exit the premises. Additionally, in some facilities, you may offer tours, recommend treatments and sell retail products. You may also be in control of keeping the reception area clean. A large part of your job will be spent handling the following administrative tasks:

  • Explain spa services to customers

Qualifications

Formal education above a high school diploma or equivalent is usually not required for a position as a spa receptionist. Receptionists generally need good customer service skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills and proficiency with computers. Your job prospects will be enhanced if you have previous clerical experience and/or if you have taken basic computing classes at colleges or vocational schools.

Work Environment

Most of your day will be spent behind a desk in a well-lit, comfortable atmosphere. You'll probably spend many hours on the phone or working at the computer. A large part of your job will involve talking with customers who come into the spa and interacting with other spa employers. Wet floors and humid conditions may be a part of your work environment, and you may be expected to clean up and keep the spa tidy. You might spend time standing and walking around as you deliver messages or escort customers to locations throughout the facility. If you're responsible for accepting and stocking supplies, you may be required to sign for deliveries and put items in their proper place.
