If you already have a cosmetology license, you may be eligible for a 500-hour credit towards the 1000-hour program to earn a barbering licensing. Barbering Programs in Massachusetts

Massachusetts School of Barbering

The Massachusetts School of Barbering in Quincy was founded in 1940 and offers a 1,000-hour barber styling program that will train you in cutting, styling, beard trimming, shaving, light therapy and shop management. It is offered in full-time, part-time, day and evening formats. If you've already completed a cosmetology program, you qualify for the 500-hour credit towards the 1000-hour barber styling program, with a reduced tuition rate of about 50%.

The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges accredits the New England Hair Academy. The program requires 1,000 hours of training in beards and mustaches, permanent weaving, scalp treatment and sanitation. The program includes hands-on experience in career specific skills such as coloring, shaving and clipper cuts.

Rob Roy Academy

The 1,000-hour program examines barber techniques, including massage, facial treatment and facial hair trimming. In addition to hands-on experience, you learn through videos, slides and handouts. A majority of the curriculum is focused on classroom theory and tapered and styled haircutting.
