<p>Athletic and fitness training professionals work with clients to develop exercise plans to help reach their goals, be it weight loss, muscle tone, preparation for an athletic event or others. Athletic trainers may work for health clubs, private gyms, hospitals and clinics, rehabilitation centers or assisted living facilities, along with the possibility of self employment. Self employed athletic trainers build their own client base through advertising and other channels. They may visit clients at home or meet them an existing gym or other exercise facility. In order to succeed in this challenging, demanding and competitive industry, most athletic trainers are professionally certified through a variety of national boards and agencies, including the National Athletic Trainers Board of Certification or others.</p>
