Read on as we dive into each of these questions.
What GPA Do You Need to Get Into UMass Global?
Your GPA, or grade point average, is one of the most commonly considered criteria for entrance into the college or university of your choice.
Keeping your GPA as high as possible throughout high school and college will provide important benefits as you move toward your academic goals.
If you're a high school student looking to get accepted into UMass Global, a minimum GPA is not specified.
You will only need to demonstrate proof of completion of high school or equivalent education.
The same holds for students with up to 11 transfer credits. Rather than meeting a GPA requirement, you will simply need to show that you have a high school diploma, GED, home study certificate, or equivalent document proving you have completed the equivalent of a high school education.
If you are transferring 12 or more college credits into a degree program at UMass Global, you will need to meet a minimum GPA requirement.
Transfer students must demonstrate a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 in all previous college-level studies. Proof of high school or equivalent education is not required in this case.
The GPA requirement applies only to coursework completed through other institutions. Students with alternative forms of credit (military credit, credit by examination, etc) will be evaluated on an individual basis.
What GPA Do You Need to Get Into a Graduate Program at UMass Global?
The 2.0 GPA requirement discussed in the previous section applies only to undergraduate-level studies. But what if you already have a bachelor's degree and are looking to pursue your master's?
Each graduate degree program at UMass Global has its own admissions requirements. However, there are some general requirements you must meet regardless of the program you choose.
Graduate students must hold a bachelor's degree and demonstrate a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 throughout their prior undergraduate studies. Some programs require a GPA of 3.0.
Students may be admitted to the program of their choice regardless of GPA if they already hold a master's degree.
Additionally, students may submit a portfolio of work demonstrating readiness for graduate-level studies. This portfolio will be evaluated on an individual basis regardless of undergraduate GPA.
What Are Other Admissions Requirements to Get Into UMass Global?
In addition to GPA, there are other admission requirements you must be aware of if you are looking to be accepted into UMass Global.
Admission requirements may vary depending on your degree program and level of study; however, all general requirements stipulate that you submit an online application.
Undergraduate students with 12 or more transfer credits must have their official transcripts sent from all previous post-secondary institutions they have attended sent to UMass Global.
Cumulative GPA will be calculated from these transcripts.
Those with alternative forms of credit must submit these credits for individual consideration.
Undergraduate students with 11 or fewer transfer credits must submit a high school diploma or transcript, GED certificate, or some other official document demonstrating the completion of high school or equivalent education.
All graduate students must submit the following with their application:
- Official transcripts from their degree-granting institution
- Any transcripts for graduate-level work the student wishes to transfer
- A portfolio if the student wishes to be admitted by portfolio evaluation
- All other transcripts or documents required for their individual degree program.
Always check the admission requirements for the program you wish to enroll in, as many of them have program-specific requirements you will need to meet in addition to these general requirements.
How Long Will It Take to Find Out if I've Been Accepted?
Your application and all accompanying documents are usually submitted online. Students can opt to have hard copies of their transcripts mailed to UMass Global, but this may slow down the admission process.
The application and related documents will be evaluated as soon as all required documents have been received by UMass Global. This evaluation process typically takes 3 to 10 business days.
Once your application has been evaluated, you will receive an official email stating whether or not you have been accepted.
