What You Need to Know

At least two public and one private schools in Louisiana offer four-year medical school education programs. Such programs prepare students for careers as physicians in a variety of fields. Although undergraduate degree program requirements vary, all medical schools require that minimum prerequisite coursework be met, regardless of the specific major. High MCAT scores are recommended; all programs require letters of recommendation and personal interviews. Competition for entry into medical schools may be difficult.
