Certificate HVAC Programs in Tampa
D.G. Erwin Technical Center
You can pursue the HVAC program at D.G. Erwin Technical Center on a full-time basis. The program is available by way of day or evening sessions. Pinellas Technical College - St. Petersburg
In nine months, you can complete the full-time program in HVAC at the St. Petersburg campus of Pinellas Technical College. Instruction is divided into three units. Each unit consists of 250 hours. In order, you'll receive training to prepare you to become an HVAC helper, mechanic's assistant and mechanic. You may qualify to sit for an EPA exam leading to certification in refrigerant handling, the North American Technician Excellence Core Service and Heat Pump Exam and for all three Core and HVAC certification level examinations of the National Center for Construction, Education and Research. You may apply credits you earn toward an Associate of Science in Industrial Management Technology at St. Petersburg College.
If you're at least 18 years of age and are employed by an HVAC contractor in Hillsborough, Pasco or Pinellas County, you may want to sign up for the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (RACCA) apprenticeship program, which is offered at the school's Clearwater campus. The 4-year program consists of 624 classroom hours and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training. Upon completion of the program, you're accepted and recognized as a journeyman in residential and light commercial heating and air conditioning installation and service. At that point, you can opt to undertake a fifth year of training in refrigeration.
