University of California - San Diego (UCSD) Health System
The UCSD Health System is the only academic health system in San Diego and the surrounding region and offers a 12-month sonography training program; therefore, the program is highly competitive. Once accepted, you'll be assigned to local hospitals and receive extensive training in techniques of abdominal, obstetrical, small parts and vascular sonography. Each week in the program consists of 8 hours of classroom study and 32 hours of clinical work. After receiving the certificate, you will be prepared to take several of the exams administered by the ARDMS.
