San Diego Mesa College
The radiology technology program at San Diego Mesa College only accepts 30-40 students every fall semester. While the certificate program doesn't offer specific classes in ultrasound technology, it does offer related training that will prove useful to future diagnostic medical sonographers. After earning your certificate, you'll be eligible to become registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and earn your state license.

While enrolled in the program, you'll learn about hospital codes, emergency numbers, acoustical physics and biological effects. For clinical training, you'll be assigned to an affiliate hospital.

The associate's degree curriculum at San Diego Mesa College includes two summer semesters. After completing the program, you'll be ready for certification as a radiographer. You'll be required to complete directed clinical practices at facilities that may require background checks. Other program coursework includes radiographic positioning, sectional anatomy, radiation biology and radiation safety. Like the school's certificate program, the associate's degree program doesn't offer direct training in ultrasound technology, but students are trained to use ultrasound equipment.
