What is UMass Global?

The university was renamed to Brandman University in 2009. In 2021 it left the Chapman University system to join the University of Massachusetts system and rebranded as UMass Global.

What Kind of Programs Does UMass Global Offer?

UMass Global offers online programs in two formats: a traditional online format and its self-paced, MyPath format.
Most programs are offered in the traditional online format, in which a professor sets the pace. Courses have due dates, but students typically do not need to log in at a set time.
These programs have eight-week terms and six start dates each year. This makes it easy for students to take a term off if life gets hectic.
Some programs through the School of Business and Professional Studies and the School of Extended Education are offered in the MyPath format.
This is a self-paced, competency-based format. Once a student finishes one course, they can move on to the next one. Students can take as many courses as they can handle in one six-month period.

Certificates available through the School of Arts and Sciences include:
- Undergraduate Certificate in GIS Use in Non-Profit Organizations: This is a six-credit certificate that focuses on using Geographic Information Systems in non-profit organizations.
- Undergraduate Certificate in Nutrition and Wellness: This is a nine-credit program that centers on nutrition and the things that influence health.
- Undergraduate Certificate in Paralegal: This is a 24-credit program that prepares students for jobs as paralegals in legal settings.
- Undergraduate Certificate in Spatial Social Sciences: This is an 18-credit program that trains students to provide spatial analysis using GIS.
These programs are available in the traditional online format. Many allow you to transfer credits earned into degree programs.
