Home Care Nurse Job Description

In a home care nurse position, you're a registered nurse who travels to patients' homes to work. You'll perform general nursing duties, such as checking vital signs, administering medicine, dressing wounds, and checking the general health of a patient. You'll usually follow the direct orders of a doctor when administering care.

Patients you may care for include people who have just been released from the hospital and need follow-up care, individuals recuperating from surgery or injury, patients with chronic illnesses, or individuals who require medical attention and don't need to be admitted to the hospital. While you may have a regular schedule, you may be on-call, which means you will see patients when they need you or when an emergency arises.
