Connecticut students may earn a certificate or an associate's degree as a paramedic. Paramedic training is the highest level of training among emergency medical technicians (EMTs); as such, all area programs require that applicants hold current certification as an EMT-Basic or higher. Programs are offered by a two-year, public school or a four-year, private institution in Connecticut. A certificate in paramedicine may be earned in three or four semesters, and an associate's degree in the field takes two years of schooling. All paramedic programs include an internship that allows students to gain hands-on experience.
