What You Need to Know
Both two-year community colleges and four-year universities offer associate degree programs in radiologic technology and radiological sciences, and they meet the educational requirement for licensure as a radiologic technologist in Pennsylvania. These programs are two years long and include laboratory work, classroom learning and clinical training with an experienced radiographer. Some of the subjects you'll study include medical terminology, medical law, anatomy and physiology, and general education coursework is also included. After finishing one of these associate degree programs, you will know to safety use diagnostic imaging units to take x-rays, and you will be ready to take the certification exam from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Radiology Associate's Degree Programs in Pennsylvania
Butler County Community College
After earning your associate's degree at Butler County Community College, you could be ready for entry-level employment in hospitals and private physician offices as a radiologic technologist. Your studies will cover topics in medical terminology, microcomputing, physical wellness and medical law. During your sixth semester, you'll take the ARRT National Registry exam.

Enrollment in the accredited program is dependent on the number of clinical sites. Other program coursework includes anatomy, physics, clinicals and physiology.

Gannon University
Gannon University's associate's degree program in radiologic sciences is limited to 18 students. The university also requires that each student have his or her own tablet PC to ensure they are ready for the technological advances of the radiological science field. You'll learn in a state-of-the-art classroom and laboratory and will have clinical rotations as well. Before you can be placed in a clinical setting, there are certain health requirements you must fulfill, including a physical and vaccinations.
