According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the number of employed computer hardware engineers was expected to increase 5% between 2021 and 2031, which is as fast as the average. The median salary among these professionals was $128,170 as of May 2021.
The BLS also reports that job openings for software developers were projected to grow 25%, which is much faster than the national average of 5% for all job sectors. As of 2021, developers earned a median of $109,020 per year.
