What is Competency-Based Education?

Competency-based education (CBE) refers to programs that use the current knowledge and skills of the students to determine the curriculum and schedule.

CBE can be contrasted with traditional learning formats that require students to spend a predetermined amount of time on each module.

CBE formats allow students to move quickly through topics they have already mastered and spend additional time on areas that need improvement.

Students who know a subject area may be able to move through CBE programs quickly and efficiently.

How is Tuition Billed in the MyPath Program?

Students in the UMass Global MyPath program are not charged per credit. UMass Global tuition is billed per 24-week session.

There is no limit to the number of classes students can complete within a 24-week session.

Additionally, the session will be extended until students complete the minimum amount of 12 units.

How Much Does UMass Global MyPath Cost?

The cost per 24-week session is $3,200 for associate's and bachelor's degrees. There are two sessions per academic year so the cost per academic year is $6,400.

At the minimum rate of 12 units per 24-week session, the cost per unit is $267. Students taking more classes will pay less per unit.

Tuition for master's programs costs $3,700 per 24-week session or $7,400 per academic year.
