Purdue Global is an online university that's part of the Purdue system, a public university system in Indiana.

The university primarily caters to busy adult learners; 59% of students are over age 30, 52% have dependents, and 85% hold jobs in addition to going to school.

In total, Purdue Global enrolls approximately 33,500 students across more than 175 associate, bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and certificate programs.

The university is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and many of its programs hold programmatic accreditation.

Is Purdue Global Veteran Friendly?

Purdue Global is extremely military and veteran-friendly. In fact, 28% of students at Purdue Global are military-affiliated.

Military and veteran students at Purdue Global can take advantage of the school's PME2Degree program, which allows them to put their professional military education (PME) towards college credits.

Additionally, military members get a reduction on their tuition. Active duty service members get 55% off, veterans get 38% off, and military spouses get 10% off. Tuition assistance is also available.

Programs for Military Members and Veterans at Purdue Global

Purdue Global offers nearly 200 programs, and military members and veterans can take and receive a tuition discount on almost all of them.

However, the PME2Degree programs allow students to earn college credit for previous military education and training. Students must submit their military transcripts to be eligible.

Through these programs, the average Purdue Global military graduate is awarded 54% of the credits needed for an associate and 45% of the credits needed for a bachelor's.

Air Force and Space Force

Four PME2Degree programs are available to Air Force and Space Force service members and veterans:

  • Associate of Applied Science in health science
  • Associate of Science in health science
  • Bachelor of Science in organizational management
  • Bachelor of Science in professional studies

The following Air Force professions are pre-approved for a reduced credit load in the health science programs: 4A0X1, 4A1X1, 4A2X1, 4C0X1, 4D0X1, 4J0X1, 4N0X1, 4N1X1, 4P0X1, 4R0X1, 4V0X1, and 4Y0X2.

There are two additional programs for air force and space force students: the Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative and the General Education Mobile program.

Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative

The Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC) program allows students to transfer up to half their credits from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).

The following Bachelor of Science majors qualify for this program:

  • business administration
  • cybersecurity
  • criminal justice
  • fire and emergency management
  • health science
  • information technology with a concentration in IT management
  • legal support and services
  • nutrition
  • organizational management
  • professional studies

General Education Mobile

The General Education Mobile (GEM) program at Purdue Global helps students fulfill their Community College of the Air Force Associate in Applied Science general education requirements.

Through this program, students may be able to complete their degree with as few as five courses and as little as eight months.

Army

Purdue Global's PME2Degree program offers six programs for Army service members and veterans:

  • Associate of Applied Science in criminal justice
  • Associate of Applied Science in health science
  • Associate of Applied Science in small group management
  • Associate of Science in health science
  • Bachelor of Science in organizational management
  • Bachelor of Science in professional studies

The following Army professions are pre-approved for a reduced credit load in the health sciences programs: 18D, 68A, 68C, 68D, 68E, 68EN5, 68F, 68G, 68J, 68K, 68M, 68P, 68PM5, 68Q, 68S, 68V, 68W, 68X, and 68Y.

Students with Enlisted Professional Military Education (EPME) may be able to finish the health science and small group management programs with as few as five courses.

Coast Guard

The following PME2Degree programs are available to Coast Guard members and veterans:

  • Associate of Applied Science in criminal justice
  • Associate of Applied Science in health science
  • Associate of Applied Science in small group management
  • Associate of Science in health science
  • Bachelor of Science in organizational management
  • Bachelor of Science in professional studies

Coast Guard students are pre-approved to receive credit for the health science programs if they serve or served as a Health Services Technician (HS).

Marines

Active-duty Marines or Marine veterans can take advantage of five PME2Degree programs at Purdue Global:

  • Associate of Applied Science in criminal justice
  • Associate of Applied Science in health science
  • Associate of Applied Science in small group management
  • Associate of Science in health science
  • Bachelor of Science in organizational management
  • Bachelor of Science in professional studies

While there is no Marine career pre-approved for the health science program, students may still be eligible for reduced credits based on prior military education.

Navy

Purdue Global offers the following PME2Degree programs for Navy members and veterans:

  • Associate of Applied Science in criminal justice
  • Associate of Applied Science in health science
  • Associate of Science in health science
  • Bachelor of Science in organizational management
  • Bachelor of Science in professional studies

Navy students are pre-approved to receive credit for the health science programs if they serve or served as a Hospital Corpsman (HM).

Tuition for Military Members and Veterans at Purdue Global

Active military members, veterans, and military spouses are eligible to receive discounted tuition at Purdue Global.

Undergraduate programs at Purdue Global are typically $371 per quarter credit. However:

  • active-duty servicemembers pay $165 per credit
  • veterans pay $230 per credit
  • spouses receive a 10% discount

Master's programs typically cost either $420 or $485 per credit depending on the program. However:

  • active-duty service members pay $320 per credit
  • veterans pay $361.20 or $417.10 per credit, respectively
  • spouses receive a 10% discount

The cost per credit for doctoral degrees is usually $700. However:

  • active-duty service members pay $560 per credit
  • veterans pay $595 per credit
  • spouses receive a 10% discount

Other forms of tuition assistance, including the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the Montgomery GI Bill are available to help military and veteran students pay for their education.
