They do this by maintaining relationships of mutual trust with their clients, evaluating the needs of their clients, and developing treatment plans to best aid their clients in maintaining or developing good mental health. These include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, and suicidality. They also help those who suffer from low self-esteem, are undergoing a period of stress, or are dealing with grief. Mental health counselors are capable of working with individuals from any demographic, though some will specialize in one section of the population, such as children, veterans, or the elderly. </p><h3 id="section---WhoDoClinicalSocialWorkersWorkWith">Who Do Clinical Social Workers Work With?</h3><p>Clinical social workers are trained to provide mental and behavioral healthcare to anyone. This includes individuals of any age and socioeconomic background. Those who are coping with mental health issues need someone who can empathize with their situation and remain calm if they become distressed during an appointment. They also need someone who can listen to them and effectively communicate ways to cope with their problems.</p>
