Data Processing Courses and Degree Programs

<p>Data processing is a computer-based degree that can be found in many career fields. The courses in this program will focus on computer software and business and finance. Many courses can be taken online, although on-site classes are also available. Additional programs may include an Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science in Database Management and Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Data Analytics or a Data Analytics Graduate Certificate program. </p> <h3 id="section---CanIStudyOnline">Can I Study Online?</h3> <p>Online data processing education is typically found as individual courses. You'll typically learn the same skills as you would in the on-campus equivalents. You may complete projects using Microsoft Office and online laboratories, as well as participating in online presentations. Your exams will be typically conducted online. Some programs may require you to e-mail your assignments to the instructors. Many online degree and certificate programs may also be available. </p> <h3 id="section---WhatIsTheCareerOutlook">What Is the Career Outlook?</h3> <p>According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), career opportunities for data entry and information processing workers are expected to decline by 25 percent from 2021-2031 (<i>www.bls.gov</i>). Your job opportunities may be best if you're willing to keep your skills up to date through continuing education. In May 2021, the BLS reported the annual median wage for data entry keyers was $35,630. In the same year, the annual median wage found in the BLS for word processors and typists was $44,030.</p>
